Hello, hello! It’s been quite awhile since I’ve shared a newsletter because my personal life has been busier than normal since the summer. I’ve already hinted at some big life changes in my last post, which leads me to the first announcement in this newsletter…
I’m pregnant!
I am almost six months pregnant with our second baby boy who is expected to arrive early March. While we are ecstatic to meet him, I’ll admit it threw me for a loop when I found out. I spent the first three and a half months of this pregnancy being so sick that I couldn’t stand to read or write anything. I also had some health scares creep up, but overall I’m happy to report that baby and I are both doing well!
I am only now getting back into writing (and reading, for that matter). Despite the fact that I’ll be taking another hiatus to focus on our growing family in just a few short months, I’m excited to share more about…
My current WIP! 🥀🌙
I’m returning to a dark fantasy/dark academia novel that I started writing while my toddler was just a newborn. I finished the first draft in early 2024 and am really enthusiastic to dive back into it. For the subscribers who have been following my gothic haunted house novel, I’ve decided to table that for now. I still love the story and the characters, but after countless revisions I think it just needs some breathing room. The WIP I’m returning to is a blend of academia and folklore and spooky castles. Actually, a short story I published earlier this year could be considered a prequel to this. 😏
Speaking of short stories…
I have another one publishing in 2026! This short story was out of my comfort zone but is, in my opinion, some of my best writing yet. After not hearing anything from the publisher within the initial timeframe, I considered it to be another rejection. So when I heard back with the news that it was accepted, I was thrilled! I’m keeping things vague for now, but the publishing contract is officially signed and you are now among the first to hear of it.
You know I can’t resist a moodboard for anything I write. If you follow me on Instagram, you may have seen this a few months ago. Here is the one I put together for said upcoming short story (a haunted seaside gothic tale):

As always, thank you for reading and supporting me. I’m excited to be back and share more over the coming months!
