Hi friends! I’ve been navigating a season of big chances (more on that soon 👀 ) and it’s made writing feel harder than usual. I haven’t written a single sentence since July and that feels like an eternity ago. I’ve missed it though, and don’t want to let too much time slip by.
In the meantime, I’ve been thinking a lot about writing and how it fits into our in-between seasons. The ones where we’re not producing much, but we’re still noticing, collecting, living. I keep reminding myself that this pause is still part of my larger creative process, and that taking a break doesn’t make me a failure.
So here’s what I’ve been up to around writing:
- Scribbling random plotlines and character arcs in my Notes app that may or may not be related to a story I’ve had rattling around my head for…let’s just say many, many years.
- Obsessing over everything pumpkin because fall has been my favorite season since I was a little kid. Every September I get so giddy just thinking about it, lol. It’s a season that brings me a lot of happiness and for whatever reason always makes me want to write. Which, honestly, I need the motivation right now.
- Keeping tabs on my favorite authors and writer friends on Instagram, Threads, and their newsletters. Even though I’ve been quiet, I’m still cheering them on from the sidelines!
I’d love to hear how you keep your creative spark alive when you’re not actively writing! Would love to have some new ideas. 😊
As always, thanks for being here!
Liz
